Bed & Breakfast
Have you ever tried to explain Daylight Savings to a baby? We don't recommend it. And we know it's not easy to adapt your little one's sleep schedule around the changing clock. But, to make your life (and theirs) a little easier this week, we pulled together a comforting, favorite breakfast recipe (shoutout to Tyler on our social team) and some activities to focus on sleep and bedtime routine. Best of luck!
Playlist: Bedtime Wind Down
Songs to transition your little one from the hustle and bustle of the day into pre-bedtime zen (if such a thing exists). Enjoy this lineup of favorite wind down songs carefully curated by the parents on our team. 😴
Recipe: Tyler's Banana Bread
Have some overripe bananas? You know what time it is! Prepare the perfect morning breakfast and on-the-go snack for your little one. In order to reduce some morning chaos, try our hack of prepping the batter the night before and you’ll have the best reward in the morning (batter will stay good in the fridge for up to 48hrs before baking). Note: This recipe makes a single serving size.
Post-bake sesh, pop on our Bedtime Wind Down playlist to help transition your little one from kitchen cleanup to pj vibes.
Here's what you'll need...
Ingredients:
½ ripe banana
½ cup rolled oats
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp maple syrup
⅓ cup milk or plant-based milk
Makes 1 personal banana bread in a porcelain ramekin (the one we used was 3" x 1 1/2" high; 3-oz. capacity)
*Optional top with extra bananas + maple syrup drizzle
Directions:
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
-
Puree the ingredients until smooth
-
Pour batter into oven-safe dish with about a 3 oz capacity (if you don't have a ramekin some glass tupperware, a small pyrex bowl, or cupcake tin could work too! Alternatively, scale up the recipe to fit a more standard loaf pan)
-
Bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until desired "cakiness"
-
Top with sliced bananas + maple syrup
-
Let cool with a dance party break
-
Cut into small bite-sized pieces
-
Enjoy!
Activity: Spring Forward Clock Making
Practice your little one’s numbers with them by constructing and coloring a clock for Daylight Savings. Repeat the numbers out-loud together to help memorization.
Bonus: This is a great way to recycle your cardboard boxes!
